March for Babies – Just Days Away!

March of Dimes Arm Ban

Every baby has their own story. This story can be great, “I was born healthy to a great family,” or it can be bad, “I was born premature, and passed away.”

Everyone has their own reasons for supporting the March of Dimes and their mission to help prevent birth defects, prematurity, and infant mortality. I have heard stories from the way people’s lives are effected because a brother or sister was born premature, someones kids were born premature, or even someones grandchildren were born premature.

This is why I implore you, beg you, and plead with you to make a donation to this cause! I have worked with the March of Dimes for four years now and I find out need information all the time.

Currently 1 out of every 8 babies in Arkansas are born premature
Currently 101 babies are born premature EVERY week in the state of Arkansas

This is why I fight for them. This is why I care about supporting the March of Dimes. It is through the dedication and efforts of millions of Volunteers that this mission will come true.

Fight for Preemies

You have just watched a very touching video. It talks about how many, many people go through their everyday lives with problems such as having a premature baby. It is the way things happen even for those that do EVERYTHING right sometimes.

Many times we take for granted the healthy lives that we live and forget that many people don’t get the chance to have the same lives that we do.

Prematurity is a serious health problem. A preterm birth is considered to happen to any baby that is born prior to the 37 week of gestation. Any child born before the 37 weeks is premature. To put this in perspective: 500,000+ babies are born premature in the United State a year.

How Prematurity Affects Us

Many people today look around and say “Why should I care? How does it affect me?”

I have to answer that question with the fact that at least one person in your family or your close friends have been born or know someone that has been born premature. If you happen to not, then you either live in a shoebox and have very few friends and family, have never asked about it, or you are just very lucky.

Some day many of us will grow up and take on lives and roles as productive citizens. Part of that role is looked at as becoming parents. Parents of babies. Babies that may, or may not, be born premature. So how does this affect you? It is an emotional, mental, and physical stress. It is an economical, spiritual, and relentlessness stress.

So why not stand up against this now, while you still have time to help save the lives of others? Why not take the time to possibly help save the life of your own child?

Take the Time

Take the time to give the slightest chance to a baby. Use your Facebook status, Tweets, E-mail Signatures, or anything else you use to spread the word about this mission. Tell the very core of your friends why you take the time to save the lives of babies by helping fund the mission of the March of Dimes, by becoming an advocate for those without a voice, by helping improve upon the education for teens and young adults about Pregnacy.

School Starts Soon

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

Okay so I was looking around and at the time. Its just days away from the time that school starts. So it has come to my attention that it is just a loverly four days until class starts.

So its just a matter of days before the new crazy days of classes start up.

Just to give you an idea of what it all is going to be like the first week here is a PDF version of what I will be doing. I hope you all love it..

Phi Beta Lambda

Okay so its starting back up again. I am honestly pumped about it. I know I only have a few months left as a state officer, but I feel this year will be a turning point for ASU PBL! We have a great new co-advisor and an awesome officer team for ASU.

On the state level the team is ready for everything and anything. We are all kind of on the same wave length. We all had a great time planning out our POW/A and loved the changes that we made to it.

I think the Fall Conference will be a blast! Atleast it will be something big for Harrison when you have around 100 students from all over the state in one small place. Lucky for us.. we are just 30 minutes or so away from Branson!

March of Dimes

Okay so this is also a busy time for the March of Dimes! We are getting together and working on several new ideas and projects! One of them is working on a Pagent for awerness and a fundraiser.

The other is working on the Chef’s Auction. It is going to be awesome we have all sorts planned out.

Also Little Rock is getting a group together and I have been asked to go down there and help interview members for their youth council. I am pretty pumped about everything that is going on int he March of Dimes work!

Hare and the Turtle – MoD NYC

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

I guess this time, I was the Hare. I ddin’t make it, but well there is always next time.

The March of Dimes found a guess better people for their postions on the National Youth Council…

Sad to say. It almost makes me wonder why I even tried. I mean I am one of the youngest people (I am in Arkansas) to have any kind of leadership in the March of Dimes. I seve on committees. I am a leader. I mean what else do they want?

I can’t say that I wasn’t expecting it. When it takes over four weeks to hear back from an interview.. you can’t help but figure you didn’t make it.

Unforntaly, it still ticked me off… I mean you put in the effort to do something and make something great.. and in return you don’t get anything back.. I guess thats life that for you… Well best wishes to those that made it.. and maybe I will work with you next year.. maybe not…

My next March of Dimes thing will be the Signature Chef’s Auction and preparing ASU-J for a March for Babies of its own!

If you read more you will see the e-mail that I got about the NYC should you really care to read it!

K-mart: The #1 National Sponsor

Monday, April 6th, 2009

Well I guess I am going to start this off by telling everyone that I work for K-mart the #1 National Sponsor for the March of Dimes. They, with the help of its customers and empoyees, have raised over 5 million dollars for the march of Dimes.

That is great! I am proud to say I work for someone that raises that much money! However, the downfall is that this is the the corprate total. I unfortantly work for a K-mart, that last year was the LOWEST ranking store in our district and most likely nation.

I can’t say that I was overly happy about that, but hey.. things were changing around and well now we have some good management and things are looking up!

While Management is GREAT our employees are absolutly not into it. Today I went into work to do some shopping and went to the back to check on the totals thus far for the day. We are at $7! WTF is up with that? I mean we have raised less than $3,000 and our goal is $10,000 and it goes to May. I mean we can’t make that goal anymore…

And when I talk to the person at the service desk about it like my management told me, she tells me that she is to busy to even do a freakin page. Something that would take her less than thirty-seconds to do if she would bother to take her time. I mean she event told me i didn’t understand how busy she was etc, that I should do the page if I was in there. I mean I have put in over like 10+ hours to just working on March of Dimes stuff when I am off the clock and she can’t even do a page to help raise money?

I HATE people that think they can’t help save babies. They are so fake!

Honestly, I am considering why I work for K-mart, or atleast this one.

I have to say though, the Management supported me and talked to the person, but still.. thats bull.
